2520 Prophecy Explained - Part 3 Truths Revealed

This is part Three (3). Please read part One (1) Here: 2520 Explained Part 1 Or Read part Two (2) here: 2520 Explained Part 2

Miller’s second witness for this prophecy was Isaiah 7:8,9…“For the head of Syria is Damascus, and the head of Damascus is Rezin; and within threescore and five years shall Ephraim be broken, that it be not a people.  And the head of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is Remaliah's son. If ye will not believe, surely ye shall not be established.
William Miller:

“Isaiah prophesied that within sixty-five years Ephraim should be broken and be not a people. Is.vii..8. This was in the days of Pekah and Rezin, 742 years before Christ.

Sixty-five years afterwards, BC 677, Esarhaddon, king of Assyria and Babylon, came with a large army into the land of Israel and Judah, carried away the last remnant of Israel, and they have not been a nation since. Then he also made war against Jerusalem, took Manasseh and carried him to Babylon; which begins the “seven times”

Judah was to be in bondage to the kings of the earth, and also the “seven years” Israel should be a captive, robbed and spoiled people; both beginning and ending at one time, 2520 years, beginning BC 677, ending AD 1843. To 1843 add 677, and the sum equals 2520.” Miller’s Works, vol. 1, 80

Let us now do the graphs:

Therefore William Miller’s 2520 ended in 1844AD;

That is why in the book Early Writing pg. 74, inspiration declares in the Chapter,

“The Gathering Time”

“September 23, the Lord showed me that He had stretched out His hand the second time to recover the remnant of His people, and that efforts must be redoubled in this gathering time. In the scattering, Israel was smitten and torn, but now in the gathering time God will heal and bind up His people. In the scattering, efforts made to spread the truth had but little effect, accomplished but little or nothing; but in the gathering, when God has set His hand to gather His people, efforts to spread the truth will have their designed effect.”
There was another 2520 discovering by Hiram Edson, another Adventist pioneer, since Israel was divided in two (1 Kings 11:9-13, 29-38) they receive separate scattering.

Hiram Edson:

“Instead of reckoning from the taking of Manasseh king of Judah to Babylon, 677 BC, we reckon from the shutting up and binding in prison Hoshea king of Israel, which was 723 BC. This was 19 years after Isaiah’s prophecy, record in Chap. vii. 8, which was 742 BC; hence Ephraim was broken from being a people literally within three-score and five years.” Hiram Edson, The Times of the Gentiles, RH January 10, 1856

Hiram Edson’s 2520 is from 723BC to 1798AD, while William Miller’s dates were from 677BC to 1844AD.

God said in 2Kings 21:13;.. “And I will stretch over Jerusalem the line of Samaria, and the plummet of the house of Ahab”…..It is simply referring to the 2520 of the Northern Tribes (Samaria) been drawn over the 2520 of the Southern Tribes (Judah, Jerusalem as capital), which is illustrated on the graph. He also recorded in Jer. 50:17;..“Israel is a scattered sheep; the lions have driven him away: first the king of Assyria hath devoured him; and last this Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon hath broken his bones”….This prophecy shows the lion kingdom of Dan. 7, scattering the entire Israel. Therefore both William Miller and Hiram Edson were correct, for the divided Israel were both scattered and they were interrelated.
There is another aspect of the graph to be considered, the paralleling of the 65yr of Isa. 7:8,9 to the sounding of the Three Angels messages in the Millerite experience:

Parallels

46 yrs between the scatterings of the two tribes 723BC for the northern tribes and 677BC for the southern tribes. Also 46yrs between the endings of the two 2520’s (1798-1844). 19yrs from the prophecy of Isa. 7:8,9 to the first tribes been scattered in 723BC. Also 19yrs 1844AD to 1863AD, when the Seventh Day Adventist church was organized.

None of this happened by chance it was all planned by God for us to build our faith on His prophetic word, just as it states… “But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son,”...Gal. 4:4.

In John 2:18-21 when Jesus told the questioning Jews.. “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up”, they thought He was talking the Jerusalem temple but He was talking of His body. They said “Forty and six years was this temple in building, and thou rear it up in three days?” The body of Christ prophetically is the church (1 cor. 12:27, Eph. 4:12), which He raised up from 1798AD-1844AD (46yrs), after the dark ages to preach the three angels messages.

The resurgence of the 2520 prophecy and the Millerite history in Adventism is remarkable and prophetic, since we are now living in the time of the outpouring of the Latter Rain and God is preparing his people for translation.

In her first vision Ellen White describes the travels of the peoples of God…“While I was praying at the family altar, the Holy Ghost fell upon me, and I seemed to be rising higher and higher, far above the dark world. I turned to look for the Advent people in the world, but could not find them, when a voice said to me, "Look again, and look a little higher." At this I raised my eyes, and saw a straight and narrow path, cast up high above the world. On this path the Advent people were traveling to the city, which was at the farther end of the path. They had a bright light set up behind them at the beginning of the path, which an angel told me was the midnight cry. This light shone all along the path and gave light for their feet so that they might not stumble. If they kept their eyes fixed on Jesus, who was just before them, leading them to the city, they were safe. But soon some grew weary, and said the city was a great way off, and they expected to have entered it before. Then Jesus would encourage them by raising His glorious right arm, and from His arm came a light which waved over the Advent band, and they shouted, "Alleluia!" Others rashly denied the light behind them and said that it was not God that had led them out so far. The light behind them went out, leaving their feet in perfect darkness, and they stumbled and lost sight of the mark and of Jesus, and fell off the path down into the dark and wicked world below.” {Early Writings pg. 14,15}

“Investigation of Doctrine.--There is no excuse for anyone in taking the position that there is no more truth to be revealed, and that all our expositions of Scripture are without an error. The fact that certain doctrines have been held as truth for many years by our people, is not a proof that our ideas are infallible. Age will not make error into truth, and truth can afford to be fair. No true doctrine will lose anything by close investigation. We are living in perilous times, and it does not become us to accept everything claimed to be truth without examining it thoroughly; neither can we afford to reject anything that bears the fruits of the Spirit of God; but we should be teachable, meek and lowly of heart. There are those who oppose everything that is not in accordance with their own ideas, and by so doing they endanger their eternal interest as verily as did the Jewish nation in their rejection of Christ”.  {Counsels to Writers and Editors pg. 35 par 2 & 3}

"Let no one run the risk of interposing himself between the people and the message of heaven. The message of God will come to the people; and if there were no voice among men to give it, the very stones would cry out. I call upon every minister to seek the Lord, to put away pride, to put away strife after supremacy, and humble the heart before God. It is the coldness of heart, the unbelief of those who ought to have faith, that keeps the churches in feebleness."-- Review and Herald, July 26, 1892.  {Counsels to Writers and Editors pg. 38 par 2}

"The present attitude of the church is not pleasing to God. There has come in a self-confidence that has led them to feel no necessity for more truth and greater light. We are living at a time when Satan is at work on the right hand and on the left, before and behind us; and yet as a people we are asleep. God wills that a voice shall be heard arousing His people to action."--Gospel Workers, pp. 297-300. (1915.) {Counsels to Writers and Editors pg. 41 par 3}

2520 Prophecy Explained - Part 2 Truths Revealed

This is part Two (2). Please read part One (1) Here: 2520 Explained Part 1  Or Read part Three (3) here: 2520 Explained Part 1

God said He would scatter Israel (vs.33) among the heathen seven times for breaking the covenant, which without a doubt happens exactly as was prophesied.

Seven times, (Hebrew word 7651-sheh`-bah) from the Hebrew word (7650-sha^ba`), means to swear, adjure, to cause to make an oath, to swear (of Jehovah by Himself), that is why we have the seven days week, seventh day Sabbath, etc..in other words God seven Himself for the salvation of man before the foundation of the world. John 17:24, Eph.1:4, 1 Peter 1:20. Israel was then given seven prophetic times.

SEVEN TIMES:
7 (Times)

  x 360 (Days in a prophetic year)
   2520 (Prophetic years)

The children of Israel also were not adhering to the Sabbaths for the land, was another reason for their scattering. In Leviticus chapter 25, the Lord gave them the covenant of the land;.. “And the LORD spake unto Moses in mount Sinai, saying, speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye come into the land which I give you, then shall the land keep a sabbath unto the LORD. Six years thou shalt sow thy field, and six years thou shalt prune thy vineyard, and gather in the fruit thereof; But in the seventh year shall be a sabbath of rest unto the land, a sabbath for the LORD: thou shalt neither sow thy field, nor prune thy vineyard.That which groweth of its own accord of thy harvest thou shalt not reap, neither gather the grapes of thy vine undressed: for it is a year of rest unto the land. And the sabbath of the land shall be meat for you; for thee, and for thy servant, and for thy maid, and for thy hired servant, and for thy stranger that sojourneth with thee,..” Lev. 25:1-6; And also the jubilee was declared....“And thou shalt number seven sabbaths of years unto thee, seven times seven years; and the space of the seven sabbaths of years shall be unto thee forty and nine years.Then shalt thou cause the trumpet of the jubilee to sound on the tenth day of the seventh month, in the day of atonement shall ye make the trumpet sound throughout all your land. And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubilee unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family.” Lev.25:8-10. Notice what God said in the curses prophecies in Lev. 26:32-35… “And I will bring the land into desolation: and your enemies which dwell therein shall be astonished at it. And I will scatter you among the heathen, and will draw out a sword after you: and your land shall be desolate, and your cities waste. Then shall the land enjoy her sabbaths, as long as it lieth desolate, and ye be in your enemies' land; even then shall the land rest, and enjoy her sabbaths. As long as it lieth desolate it shall rest; because it did not rest in your sabbaths, when ye dwelt upon it.”

Notice the quotation from Miller’s works volume 2, pg. 261commenting on Dan. 4: 30-32: "Seven times," in Nebuchadnezzar's dream, was fulfilled in seven years. Nebuchadnezzar, for his pride and arrogancy against God, was driven among the beasts of the field, and was made to eat grass as oxen, until seven times passed over him, and until he learned that the Most High ruled in the kingdoms of men, and gave it to whomsoever he would. This being a matter of history, and as an allegory or sample to the people of God for their pride and arrogancy, in refusing to be reformed by God, and claiming the power and will to do these things themselves,—they, too, like Nebuchadnezzar, must be driven among the beasts of the field, (meaning the kingdoms of the world,) until they learn the sovereignty of God, and that he dispenses his favors to whomsoever he will. That, being a matter of history, and a sample only, was fulfilled in seven years; but this, being a prophecy, will only be fulfilled in seven prophetic times, which will be 7 times 360 years, which will make 2520 years;”

Furthermore the Spirit of Prophecy does state that the 2520 or the scattering gathering of God’s people is a legitimate time prophecy, in the book Prophets and Kings pg. 295, 295 it states….“Moses traced the evils that would result from a departure from the statutes of Jehovah. Calling heaven and earth to witness, he declared that if, after having dwelt long in the Land of Promise, the people should introduce corrupt forms of worship and bow down to graven images and should refuse to return to the worship of the true God, the anger of the Lord would be aroused, and they would be carried away captive and scattered among the heathen. "Ye shall soon utterly perish from off the land whereunto ye go over Jordan to possess it," he warned them; "ye shall not prolong your days upon it, but shall utterly be destroyed. And the Lord shall scatter you among the nations, and ye shall be left few in number among the heathen, whither the Lord shall lead you. And there ye shall serve gods, the work of men's hands, wood and stone, which neither see, nor hear, nor eat, nor smell." Duet. 4:26-28.

This prophecy, fulfilled in part in the time of the judges, met a more complete and literal fulfillment in the captivity of Israel in Assyria and of Judah in Babylon.”

Whom should God’s people follow today, modern theologians in the Seventh Day Adventist church or God, there are no other options. There is also no premise for debating on Hebrew grammar when God gives us his clear commands. William Miller draws his conclusions from the context of the scriptures in regards the “sevens” of chapter 25 & 26 of Leviticus and God scattering them for not keeping His covenant.

Miller gives us his clear starting points…“From a farther [sic] study of the Scriptures, I concluded that the seven times of Gentile supremacy must commence when the Jews ceased to be an independent nation at the captivity of Manasseh, which the best chronologers assigned to B. C. 677; that the 2300 days commenced with the seventy weeks, which the best chronologers dated from B. C. 457; and that the 1335 days commencing with the taking away of the daily, and the setting up of the abomination that maketh desolate, [Dan.xii,11,] were to be dated from the setting up of the Papal supremacy, after the taking away of Pagan abominations, and which, according to the best historians I could consult, should be dated from about A. D. 508.  {Advent Review & Sabbath Herald, April 18, 1854, p. 98}

“When, then, may we not ask, did the bondage of the children of God begin? I answer, when LITERAL BABYLON began to exercise authority over them. In the twenty-second year of Manasseh’s reign, in the year before Christ 677, the last of the 10 tribes were carried away, and Israel ceased to be a nation according to the prophecy...” William Miller, A TRILOGY pages 20-22

2520 Prophecy Explained - Part 1 Truths Revealed

This is part One (1). Please read part Two (2) Here: 2520 Explained Part 2

This is one of the most controversial times in Adventism, in regards to prophecies and especially the 2520, sometimes mentioned as The Scattering and Gathering or Seven Times of Leviticus, the twenty-sixth chapter. It has divided the Seventh Day Adventist Church in two factions with the vast majority rejecting it been legitimate and with a remnant declaring its importance as with all other time prophecies. As a member of the church today, one may rightly say it is fairly a new teaching but is it really new? Does the Spirit of Prophecy endorse it?  Why is prophecy coming back at this time? As Christians we are bound by the Word of God... “Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.” 1Thess. 5:21and may we carry out this principle as we view the evidences.

It all started with William Miller, after the 1260 years of papal supremacy in 1798, God raise him up to herald Jesus Christ soon coming and to lay the foundation of Adventism. This is what the Spirit of Prophecy says of him;

“God sent His angel to move upon the heart of a farmer who had not believed the Bible, to lead him to search the prophecies. Angels of God repeatedly visited that chosen one, to guide his mind and open to his understanding prophecies which had ever been dark to God's people. The commencement of the chain of truth was given to him, and he was led on to search for link after link, until he looked with wonder and admiration upon the Word of God. He saw there a perfect chain of truth.” {Early Writings pg.229 par.1}

There is a point to note that it was Gabriel whom God sent to guide him as in “Desire of the Ages pg. 99”, we read "He sent and signified it by His angel unto His servant John." Rev. 1:1. And to John the angel declared, "I am a fellow servant with thee and with thy brethren the prophets." Rev. 22:9, R. V. Wonderful thought--that the angel who stands next in honor to the Son of God is the one chosen to open the purposes of God to sinful men.“

“God directed the mind of William Miller to the prophecies and gave him great light upon the book of Revelation.”  {Early Writings pg 231 par.1}

“But I saw that this book is indeed a revelation given for the especial benefit of those who should live in the last days, to guide them in ascertaining their true position and their duty….If Daniel's visions had been understood, the people could better have understood the visions of John. But at the right time, God moved upon His chosen servant, who, with clearness and in the power of the Holy Spirit, opened the prophecies and showed the harmony of the visions of Daniel and John and other portions of the Bible, and pressed home upon the hearts of the people the sacred, fearful warnings of the Word to prepare for the coming of the Son of man. Deep and solemn conviction rested upon the minds of those who heard him, and ministers and people, sinners and infidels, turned to the Lord and sought a preparation to stand in the judgment.” {Early Writings pg 231 par.1&2}

“Mr. Miller traced down the prophecies with an exactness that struck conviction to the hearts of his hearers. He dwelt upon the prophetic periods, and brought many proofs to strengthen his position. Then his solemn and powerful appeals and admonitions to those who were unprepared, held the crowds as if spellbound.” {Christian Experience and Teachings of Ellen G. White pg.16 par.2}

Why would God direct William Miller, in the power of the Holy Spirit and gave him great light, to lead him in error as declared by many Adventists? We should seek to better understand God’s leading , especially between 1840-1844. The Spirit of prophecy further states;

“Angels of God accompanied William Miller in his mission….” {Early Writings pg 232 par.1}

“With trembling, William Miller began to unfold the mysteries of the kingdom of God to the people. He gained strength with every effort. He carried the people down through the prophecies to the second advent of Christ. As John the Baptist heralded the first advent of Jesus, and prepared the way for his coming, so also, William Miller and those who joined him, proclaimed the second advent of the Son of God.”  {1Spiritual Gifts vol.1 pg. 129. par1}

 “Thousands were led to embrace the truth preached by William Miller, and servants of God were raised up in the spirit and power of Elijah to proclaim the message.” {Early Writings pg. 233 par.1}

Williams Miller saw a perfect chain of truth, which the Millerites documented on charts. On these charts were outlined the foundation beliefs of Adventism which was correlated in their experience which we know as The Three Angels Messages. Herein is the support of inspiration;

“We are to repeat the words of the pioneers in our work, who knew what it cost to search for the truth as for hidden treasure, and who labored to lay the foundation of our work.” {Counsels to Writers and Editors pg. 28 par 1}

“I saw a company who stood well guarded and firm, giving no countenance to those who would unsettle the established faith of the body. God looked upon them with approbation. I was shown three steps,--the first, second, and third angels' messages. Said my accompanying angel, "Woe to him who shall move a block or stir a pin of these messages. The true understanding of these messages is of vital importance. The destiny of souls hangs upon the manner in which they are received." I was again brought down through these messages, and saw how dearly the people of God had purchased their experience. It had been obtained through much suffering and severe conflict. God had led them along step by step, until He had placed them upon a solid, immovable platform. --Early Writings, pp. 258, 259. (1858.)” {Counsels to Writers and Editors pg. 53 par. 1}

“The Three Angels' Messages.--The proclamation of the first, second, and third angels' messages has been located by the word of Inspiration. Not a peg or pin is to be removed. No human authority has any more right to change the location of these messages than to substitute the New Testament for the Old…..The first and second messages were given in 1843 and 1844, and we are now under the proclamation of the third; but all three of the messages are still to be proclaimed. It is just as essential now as ever before that they shall be repeated to those who are seeking for the truth. By pen and voice we are to sound the proclamation, showing their order, and the application of the prophecies that bring us to the third angel's message. There cannot be a third without the first and second. These messages we are to give to the world in publications, in discourses, showing in the line of prophetic history the things that have been, and the things that will be.--Manuscript 32, 1896.  {Counsels to Writers and Editors pg. 26 par 2}

That is what the Millerites did, they carefully calculated God’s dealing with Israel in the past to know their position and duty and so it must be for us at the end of the world. The prophetic charts were of divine inspiration which contain the 2520 along with all the prophecies of Daniel and the Revelation. There was two basic charts used; The 1843 and The 1850 charts which were supported by inspiration.

Say the prophet, regarding the 1843 chart…“I have seen that the 1843 chart was directed by the hand of the Lord, and that it should not be altered; that the figures were as He wanted them; that His hand was over and hid a mistake in some of the figures, so that none could see it, until His hand was removed.” {Early Writings pg. 74, par.1}

The mistake on this chart was not the 2520 prophecy as the Lord explained it in Early Writings page 236;…“The hand of the Lord was removed from the figures, and the mistake was explained. They saw that the prophetic periods reached to 1844, and that the same evidence which they had presented to show that the prophetic periods closed in 1843, proved that they would terminate in 1844. Light from the Word of God shone upon their position, and they discovered a tarrying time--"Though it [the vision] tarry, wait for it." In their love for Christ's immediate coming, they had overlooked the tarrying of the vision, which was calculated to manifest the true waiting ones.”

A (singular) mistake in some of the figures, as shown by the arrows, they did not count the ’0’ year when moving from BC to AD this was why God gave direction for a new chart in 1850 to correct that mistake but only inspiration could authorized the change.

“I saw that the truth should be made plain upon tables, that the earth and the fullness thereof is the Lord's, and that necessary means should not be spared to make it plain. I saw that the old chart was directed by the Lord, and that not a figure of it should be altered except by inspiration. I saw that the figures of the chart were as God would have them, and that His hand was over and hid a mistake in some of the figures, so that none should see it till His hand was removed”.{Spalding and Magan pg. 1 Par 3}
 “I saw the chart-making business was all wrong. It originated with Brother Rhodes and was followed out by Brother Case. Means has been spent in making charts and forming uncouth disgusting images to represent angels and the glorious Jesus. Such things I saw were displeasing to God. I saw that God was in the publishment of the chart by Brother Nichols (This is referring to the 1850 chart). I saw that there was a prophecy of this chart in the Bible, and if this chart is designed for God's people, if it [is] sufficient for one it is for another, and if one needed a new chart painted on a larger scale, all need it just as much…I saw that the charts ordered by God struck the mind favorably, even without an explanation. There is something light, lovely, and heavenly in the representation of the angels on the charts. The mind is almost imperceptibly led to God and heaven. But the other charts that have been gotten up disgust the mind, and cause the mind to dwell more on earth than heaven. Images representing angels look more like fiends than beings of heaven”. {13 Manuscript Releases pg. 359 par.1-3}

“As early as 1842 the direction given in this prophecy to "write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it," (Hab. 2:1-4) had suggested to Charles Fitch the preparation of a prophetic chart to illustrate the visions of Daniel and the Revelation.(This is referring to the 1843 Chart) The publication of this chart was regarded as a fulfillment of the command given by Habakkuk”. {Great Controversy pg. 392 par.2}. God gave ancient Israel the two tables of stone, which contains the Ten Commandments, confirming the covenant. He now gives to modern Israel two tables, the 1843 & 1850 charts which also bind us in a covenant with Him.

There were other charts made but only these two were endorsed or ordered by God. When the other charts were rejected by God, this included the 1863 chart. Inspiration declares they were… “forming uncouth disgusting images to represent angels and the glorious Jesus. Such things I saw were displeasing to God” {13 Manuscript Releases pg. 359 par.1-3}. He made the change and establishes the truth and foundation for Seventh Day Adventist by the two witnesses (1843 & 1850 charts). Read Deut. 17:6, 19:15, Matt.18:16, 2 Corin. 13:1…“at the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established”. The 2520 was on both charts establishing its truthfulness. James White’s alteration is building on sifting sand as there is not a single endorsement from God to be found and because he is the husband of the prophet does not make him the channel God uses. This cannot undermine the importance of James White to the church, the sacrificial work he left us especially in leadership and our publishing ministry or the unwavering support given to Ellen White in writing the testimonies to God’s people. They were both Millerites, he too preached from the charts and accepted the truth given to William Miller by God.

Israel’s covenant with God was;…“ If ye walk in my statutes, and keep my commandments, and do them;  For I will have respect unto you, and make you fruitful, and multiply you, and establish my covenant with you. And I will walk among you, and will be your God, and ye shall be my people. I am the LORD your God, which brought you forth out of the land of Egypt,…” Lev. 26:3,9, 12-13

The covenant was to keep the Ten Commandments (Duet. 4:12,13), given in Exodus chapter nineteen and twenty. Blessings were covenanted if obedient to God, (Lev. 26: 1-13) and curses, (Lev. 26:14-39) if disobedient;

“But if ye will not hearken unto me, and will not do all these commandments; And if ye shall despise my statutes, or if your soul abhor my judgments, so that ye will not do all my commandments, but that ye break my covenant:… And I will set my face against you, and ye shall be slain before your enemies: they that hate you shall reign over you; and ye shall flee when none pursueth you. And if ye will not yet for all this hearken unto me, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins…And I will bring a sword upon you, that shall avenge the quarrel of my covenant: and when ye are gathered together within your cities, I will send the pestilence among you; and ye shall be delivered into the hand of the enemy…And I will bring a sword upon you, that shall avenge the quarrel of my covenant: and when ye are gathered together within your cities, I will send the pestilence among you; and ye shall be delivered into the hand of the enemy.” Lev. 26: 14-15,17-18,25

The Message & The Glory of God

"And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in His sight, and wilt give ear to His commandments, and keep all His statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee." Exodus 15:26

"Disease is an effort of Nature to free the system from conditions that result from a violation of the Laws of health. " Ministry of Healing, Pg. 127

"Knowledge must be gained in regard to how to eat and drink and dress so as to preserve health. Sickness is the result of violating nature's law. Our first duty, one which we owe to God, to ourselves, and to our fellowmen, is to obey the laws of God. These include the laws of health." CTBH 12

Rest And The Invitation

Psalms 16:9  Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope.

Psalms 37:7  Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

Matthew 11:28 to 30  Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you
rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

God vs Gay Rights, Homosexuality, And Same Sex Marriages

"This know also perilous times shall come..." 2Tim 3:1. Perilous times indeed, the roaring issues regarding the gay rights, homosexuality, same sex marriages, and the redefinition of marriage, cannot be passed by unnoticed. Who has the right to define marriage? Shouldn't it be defined by him who instituted it? God. What is His definition? Gen 2:24 " Therefore shall a man leave father and mother and shall cleave onto his wife and they shall be one flesh" and Mark 10: 6-9 " But from the beginning of the creation god made them male and female. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother and cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh; so then they are no more twain but one flesh what therefore God hath joined together let not man put asunder." Now this definition is very important as is given by God both in the old and the new testament God says he placed male and female together, not male with male or female with female and very importantly God pointed out that what He has placed together no man should part asunder. Aren't we attacking the primary institution of society when we define marriage as we choose; saying that it is ok for persons of the same sex to be joined together, but does God join them?

Why did God institute marriage? One of the main reason is procreation. Now some may say that I am misinformed, but how can persons of the same sex procreate? Persons may argue on the point of evolution; but even in this, how could the process of life have continued if all the animals were of the same sex? When we look in nature even the animals obey. The injunction of male and female yet man who was created in the image and likeness of God are now so confused that we are not able to distinguish between what is natural and what is unnatural. What does the word of God say regarding this? Lev. 18: 22 " Thou shalt not lie with mankind as with womankind: it is abomination." Lev 20: 13 " If a man also lie with mankind,as he lieth with a woman both of them have commit an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them." What shall we say? Is God unjust, or inhumane for saying this?

 The bible says God is love and he who created us has decreed that homosexuality is punishable by death. It affects not only the physical laws of man but also the moral laws. What is an abomination? Merriam Webster's dictionary says something loathsome or disgusting, extremely hateful. God sees homosexuality as hateful and now man says it is pleasurable; but in Rom. 1: 26& 27 God says it is unnatural and down further in the same text says these things are punishable by death and speaks not only about those who practice these activities but those also who take pleasure in them that do these things.

Where did these things originate? They originated with him who has avowed himself as God's enemy, Satan, and is determined to efface the image of God in man. But most alarmingly, what are these things portending, Luke 17: 28-30 says " likewise as it was in the days of Lot...even thus shall it be when the Son of man is revealed;" these things are a sure sign of the coming of Christ, that we are living in the last days; a sure sign of judgment upon the ungodly.

Men have so brought God down to our low standards that we are calling good evil and evil good. The leaders of our country and America are desperately trying to usurp the authority of God, but what will be the result of these things? Lev 18: 24&25: 24. "Defile not ye yourselves in any of these things for in all these the nations are defiled which i cast out before you." 25." And the land is defiled: therefore I do visit the iniquity thereof upon it, and the land itself vomiteth out her inhabitance." Those things were abhorred even by the land itself! Did God sit silently with the inhabitants of sodom? Will he sit silent and watch us deface his  image? No, God will not He will rise and He will act!

In the mean time what is the duty of the church in these issues should we sit as though muzzled? "What astonishing deception and fearful blindness had, like a dark cloud, covered Israel! This blindness and apostasy had not closed about them suddenly; it had come upon them gradually as they had not heeded the word of reproof and warning which the Lord had sent to them because of their pride and their sins. And now, in this fearful crisis, in the presence of the idolatrous priests and the apostate king, they remained neutral. If God abhors one sin above another, of which His people are guilty, it is doing nothing in case of an emergency. Indifference and neutrality in a religious crisis is regarded of God as a grievous crime and equal to the very worst type of hostility against God. "– {3T 280.3} We are to cry aloud and spare not and show a dying world their sins.

Importance of William Miller's Work to Seventh Day Adventists.

"We have nothing to fear for the future except as we shall forget the way the Lord has led us, and His teachings in our past history." LS p196 as a people have we forgotten the way the Lord has led us? We may answer with a resounding no, but when we endorse 1863 as the starting point of our church and can scoff at Miller's work as being fanatical isn't this forgetting? Again we are counseled " The record of the experience through which the people of God passed in the early history of our work must be republished. Many of those who have since come into the truth are ignorant of the way in which the Lord wrought. The experience of William Miller and his associates, of Captain Joseph Bates and other pioneers in the advent message, should be kept before the people." CW 145.2. Is this work being done among us as a people today, when in celebrating our history the work of Miller and the pioneers has been completely overlooked? The pen of inspiration also says " we must study to find out the best way in which to take up the review of our experience from the beginning of our work, when we separated from the churches and went forward step by step in the light God gave us." CW 145.3 Again I ask, did we separate from the churches in 1863? Is this date the starting point of our work?

Who was God's chosen vessel in the leading out of our work? Let us see from the pen of inspiration whom God had appointed for this work.
" God sent His angel to move upon the heart of a farmer who had not believed the bible, to lead him to search the prophecies. Angels of God repeatedly visited the CHOSEN ONE ( emphasis mine), to guide his mind and open to his understanding prophecies which had ever been dark to God's people." EW 229.1 So we see that William Miller was chosen by God, she continues by saying " the commencement of the chain of truth was given to him"  Miller was not only chosen but the commencement of the chain of truth was given to him. In the book Great Controversy she states " an upright , honest hearted farmer, who had been led to doubt the the divine authority of the scriptures, yet who sincerely desired to know the truth was the man specially chosen of God to lead out in the proclamation of Christ's second coming." GC 317.1 Ellen White went even further in describing the work of this humble servant of God she says " as Elisha was called from following his oxen in the field, to receive the mantle of consecration to the prophetic office, so was William Miller called to leave his plow and open to the people the mysteries of the kingdom of God." GC 331.1

Not only was he called but he was given a mandate of God! GC 368.1 " To William Miller and
his co-laborers it was given to preach the warning in America. This country became the center of the great advent movement---------- the writings of Miller and his associates were carried to distant lands." it was William Miller who led out in the warning message of the first angel which is an integral part of our church, without the first angel's message we would not have a second or a third, if we forget this where will we stand as a people in these last days? If our history began in 1863 where are the message that makes us a peculiar people in the earth led and directed by God? Are we following the injunction given to God's servant to become acquainted with the work and experience of this great pioneer. When we say his work was error what does God say about it? "I saw that God was in the proclamation of the time in 1843. It was his design to arouse the people and bring them to a testing point, where they should decide for or against the truth." His, William Miller's mistake was appointed by God as a test to his people, but was this mistake corrected? "those faithful, disappointed ones who could not understand why their Lord did not come were not left in darkness. Again they were led to their Bibles to search the prophetic periods. The hand of the Lord was removed from the figures and the mistake was explained. They saw that the prophetic periods reached to 1844 and the same evidence which they had presented to show that the prophetic periods closed in 1843 proved that they would terminate in 1844." EW 236.1

In concluding God raised up William Miller and placed him at the head of the proclamation of the final messages to the world, He gave him the commencement of the chain of truth, his message was designed to be a test to the people of God and last but not least his mistake was corrected. Will we be excused before God for scoffing at his messenger whom He had chosen and also for neglecting to become acquainted with his work and experience?
